      About this trip

ALTHOUGH IT SAYS TRIP, PLEASE NOTE, THIS INFO AND REGISTRATION IS FOR DAY CAMP, NOT A TRIP.

Welcome to Family Dive Club's Summer Camp Registration. We know there are many summer camp options to choose from and we are thrilled you are interested in Family Dive Club's programs to enrich your child's summer experience. We are committed to providing fun, active, and engaging experiences where children gain knowledge and skills serving them long after camp is over.

Ages 13-17 - (12yo if they have attended our Seal Team Camp)

Each weeklong fun-filled summer camp is open to students ages 13-17. (Age 12 if they have attended Seal Team Camp) Campers will have an opportunity to earn a PADI Open Water or Jr. Open Water Certification depending on age. Camp will take place at Blue Water Scuba,  Blue Water Park - Pelham, AL (bluewaterparkal.com)

      Adventure Awaits!!

PADI® Open Water Diver is the first scuba certification level. A highly-trained Family Dive Club PADI Instructor will teach you how to scuba dive in a relaxed, supportive learning environment.

By the end of the course, you'll have the skills and knowledge to dive at home or abroad and be an ambassador for the underwater world. The instructors for this course will be Dina Marble and Maggie Knight.

      Camp Time:

Camp takes place Monday - Friday 8:30 to 4:30 with a brief graduation ceremony Friday at 4:00.

      Camp Requirements

To enroll in the PADI Open Water Diver or Junior Open Water Diver Scuba Camp you must be:

      • 12 years or older
      • Swimming skills - Camper should be able to tread water or float for 10 minutes and swim 200 yards without touching the side of the pool.
      • Complete the required paperwork
      • Complete this registration form
      • Pay deposit

(No prior scuba experience is needed. Just a general comfort in the water)

      The Fun Part

The fun part about this course is...well, just about all of it because learning to dive is incredible. You breathe underwater for the first time (something you'll never forget) and learn what you need to know to become a certified diver. During the course, you'll make at least five pool dives and four open water dives under the supervision of your Family Dive Club Instructor.

      What you Learn

The PADI Open Water Diver course consists of three main parts:

      • Knowledge Development - Classroom time to understand basics of dive theory.
      • Confined Water Dives - master the required scuba skills for open water
      • Open Water Certification Dives - bring your newly mastered skills to a real diving environment while exploring!

      The Scuba Gear You Use

In the PADI Open Water Diver course, you learn to use basic scuba gear and standard accessories. You will need to bring your own mask, fins, snorkel and dive booties. We'll provide everything else.

Just one word to summarize this experience: WOW!!! The preparation by Dina was excellent, and once at the aquarium, all staff were well organized and made the visit wonderful. Of course, the stars of the show, the 'gentle giants', were nothing short of spectacular to be around. I'd recommend this experience to all divers.
