Back by popular demand is our amazing Gorilla Trekking group trip, and this time we're adding in several chances to see all of The Big 5 animals in Uganda!
We'll start in Kampala, where you can have the option to get Kitenge clothing tailor made by our favorite local NGO that supports women, before we head to see rhinos in Ziwa, then hopefully the rest of the Big 5 in Queen Elizabeth National Park.
Then it's the highlight of the trip; trekking through the lush Bwindi Impenetrable Forest as we search for Mountain Gorillas! They are tracked daily by expert trackers and guides, so there's a 99% chance of seeing them!
*PLEASE NOTE:
- Trip price is for double occupancy in twin rooms, if you'd like a single room please email us!
- We need a minimum of 15 people for Alyssa to host this trip, if there are less, we will have our awesome co-host Jena go, and you will have the option to postpone or cancel.
- We just want to re-iterate as many times as possible that wild animals are always unpredictable, so there's always a chance of not seeing them, however we always have in the past!
We always recommend checking flights before booking the trip to make sure it's do-able for you!
Typically we play around with Skyscanner and Google Flights to find the best pricing, as well as check to see if one way flights are cheaper than roundtrips. If you're able to be flexible, you might also want to check dates before and after our official dates!
ARRIVE: In Entebbe airport as early as possible on August 23rd so that you can do a tour of the local women's NGO we support (which is also where you can order custom clothing from) We are also having an optional city tour of Kampala on the arrival day around 3pm. Keep in mind it takes 1-2 hours to get to Kampala from the airport in Entebbe!
DEPART: Any time on August 30th!
Early arrivals/late departures: we will help you book extra nights later on through this platform
Please read this carefully! As full time travelers, we know things come up that can lead us to cancelling a trip…but we also know that a lot of things are non-refundable, which is why our $500 deposit is non-refundable up to certain times, so we just want to emphasize that here! And also give you exact details of some ways we can help make up for any loses if the timing is long enough in advance.
Our cancellation policy is based on our local tour companies’ policies as well for timing until things like hotels and tours are not refundable, as well as our own fees for all of the admin and work we do to create these trips, and handle all of your bookings! We hope you understand!
This is also why we make travel insurance MANDATORY, and we highly recommend getting it around the same time you book your flights. That way if a covered issue happens like a flight cancellation or delay, or you (god forbid) get sick or injured, the insurance will likely cover your trip.
However, if you cancel for PERSONAL reasons, including work-related issues, financial-issues, family-issues, or fear of travel, the insurance does not cover those reasons, and neither can we, however we try to be as flexible as possible!
UPDATE: As of 2024, we now require:
Below is an overview of our cancellation policy timeline for personal reasons:
For emergency health situations; we will evaluate them on a per basis situation depending on the time of cancellation and ability to have travel insurance cover it or not.
PLEASE PURCHASE TRAVEL INSURANCE AT THE TIME OF BOOKING YOUR TRIP! Copy and paste this link to use World Nomads: https://www.jdoqocy.com/click-8207495-15373843V
You do not need to apply for your visa right away, but we recommend having it done around 3 months before the trip -- don't worry, we'll send a newsletter out to remind you!
COST: the single entry Uganda visa is $50, you can get it online at https://www.immigration.go.ug/services/tourist-visa
Please get your visa online to avoid any airport mishaps!
If you are also going to Rwanda or Kenya, you can get an "East African Visa" that allows travel to all three countries, you can find it on the same website!
We will be offering a couple of add-on options for this trip, but this platform doesn't allow enough space in the add-on section to write out the itinerary, so please email us if you'd like to see that info! You can add the add-ons at any time after booking!
Options:
- Burundi 5 days 4 nights (highly recommended!) $1000, dates will be prior to the main trip
- Rwanda with possible DRC excursion 5 days 4 nights - $1400
Today you'll arrive at the Entebbe airport and be transferred to the bustling capital city of Kampala where our adventure begins! The earlier you arrive, the more optional activities you'll be able to join, so please remember that when looking for flights!
We won't throw you into the chaos of Kampala just yet though, instead we'll bring you to our favorite luxury boutique hotel, Latitude 0, where you can have the option to pick up any pre-ordered Kitenge fashion from the local women's NGO we support, Yimba Uganda. (Info for pre-ordering will be sent out a few months before the trip). You can also do a tour of their NGO facility to see how they help empower women and train them for better jobs, and thus, better lives!
In the early evening, around 3 or 4pm, we will have an optional walking tour of Kampala, in case you'd like to see what the capital city is like. It is definitely a drastic difference from all of the nature we'll be immersed in!
Our official Welcome Dinner will be around 7pm at Latitude 0, followed by the tour briefing!
*Please note that there is always a high likelihood of traffic in Kampala, so if you'd like to ensure you don't miss any of these activities, we would recommend arriving a day early!
