Start your day with a guided sightseeing tour with your Blue Badge guide, with stops to see such greats as Buckingham Palace, St. Paul’s Cathedral, and an included entrance to Westminster Abbey, the burial place of many famous authors and poets. In addition to burials, the Abbey has served as a site for royal coronations and 17 royal weddings—including Prince William and Duchess Kate. Enjoy dinner at night.

After breakfast, head to Dover Castle via coach bus, where over 2000 years of history await. Dover Castle is a medieval palace, and was home to Henry II, among other residents, some of whom you may just get to “meet” as the costumed characters roam the castle and grounds sharing stories of courtly intrigue and royal ambition. Climb to the rooftop for a panoramic view of the English Channel. 

In addition to the impressive Great Tower, there are over 80 acres of castle grounds upon which you can walk the battlements of what is considered England’s greatest fortress. (Make a possible stop in Greenwich upon return if time allows). Sit down together and discuss the day over dinner back in London.

 This morning, it’s off to the Tower of London, where you’ll have the chance to explore this secure fortress, royal palace, and infamous prison. Get up close to the crown jewels, see the “beefeaters” walking the grounds, and count the ravens in the courtyard. It is said that the Tower, along with the entire Kingdom of England, will fall if six resident ravens ever leave the fortress. (There are nine ravens at the Tower today). Then make the most of your free time in the city this afternoon (several afternoon options with a chaperone in charge of each) before rejoining the group for dinner this evening.

Travel through the English countryside by train from London to Edinburgh.  Once arriving in Edinburgh, you’ll hit the ground running with a guided sightseeing with an entrance to Edinburgh Castle, one of the oldest fortified places in Europe. With an extensive history as a home to the royals, an infamous prison and a medieval fortress, its walls hold many stories~ and just as many secrets. There are numerous stories about ghosts that roam the halls of the former home of Mary, Queen of Scotts. From the top of the hill, enjoy a panoramic view of the city. And when you ascend Castle Hill, you, too, will walk in the footsteps of royalty ~and some very interesting characters, indeed! This afternoon, explore Edinburgh your way during your afternoon free time before regrouping for dinner at night.

After breakfast you’re off on a full-day excursion to Trossachs National Park and the Scottish Highland. This area is extremely popular with travelers and those who enjoy outdoor adventuring. In fact, it was one of the first areas in Scotland to become a recognized tourist attraction, due to its prime location and gorgeous scenery, which many consider to be a pristine example of a typical Highland landscape. See the Wallace Monument, Stirling’s famous landmark that rises above the fields where William Wallace led his troops to victory at The Battle of Stirling Bridge, and thus, became Scotland’s national hero. Then enjoy an entrance to Stirling Castle, birthplace of Mary, Queen of Scots and James VI and I, before heading south again via the Kelpies before your dinner back in Edinburgh.

Start your day with a visit to Holyrood House Palace and learn about the history and royal dramatic events throughout the British history. Continue onwards checking off those last Scottish bucket list items during your time this afternoon in Edinburgh. Visit The National Museum of Scotland and then spend your day exploring Edinburgh, a great city for walking as its neighborhoods are replete with historic buildings and aesthetically-pleasing architecture. From the gothic landmarks and cobblestone streets in Old Town to the steep Royal Mile, whichever neighborhood you roam, you’ll be taking in some of the most famous sites in the city.  End your day with a farewell dinner at night.
