      About this trip

      Welcome to the September Ladies ONLY Italy  Guided Tour


      We have created this tour based on feedback from our guests over the years. Many women have said that they would love to travel, but don’t have anyone to travel with. Traveling in a group is less expensive than traveling alone, and often safer, too. Many solo travelers don’t want to be stuck in a group made up of only couples, and they aren’t looking to be harassed by other passengers.

      As a woman Tour Director, I feel that my “Ladies Only” tours are a great way for me to share my passion for travel with guests who otherwise may not be willing or able to travel.

      What’s included

      • Transportation
        Private Transportation during your entire trip, with the exceptions of Downtown Historic centers where no cars are allowed and in Venice of course. Hard to drive a bus there :)
      • Breakfasts
        Full breakfasts in your hotel every morning. (Exception on the Vatican tour where breakfast is at the Vatican Museums.)
      • 4 Star Hotels
        Our Hotels truly are in the very hearts of the cities, towns and villages.
      • Guided City Tours
        Private Local Guides will give you an introduction to each city, followed by time to explore at your own pace. We want you to enjoy this tour not get a 5 hour history sermon.
      • Meals
        Optional meal plan available - 4 Lunches, 5 Dinners
      • Entrance Fees
        No Annoying Up-Selling while on tour - we don't think you should pay top dollar for a deluxe vacation and then be subjected to daily solicitation to spend more money.
      • 24/7 Tour Director
        Lorna Holland will remain with the group for all listed activities. Lorna and Dante will be responsible for managing the travel arrangements of guests from beginning to end of the tour.

        All tips/gratuities are included for services on tour provided by dining room waiters and porters at hotels

      DAY  1

      Welcome to Rome!
      Meet Tour Diretor, Lorna Holland, when you exit Customs
      Board private Transportation
      Arrive Sorrento (3.5 hours)
      Check in Hotel
      Orientation Walk of Sorrento


      DAY 2

      8:00 Breakfast
      9:00 Private chauffer picks us up in our vehicle to begin our driving adventure of the Amalfi Coast. Visit the town of Positano with several panoramic stops along the way for photos of the Mediterranean Sea and the coastline. Indulge in a (few!) lemon granitas and soak up the sea air.
      We will stop for lunch with a view of the Mediterranean Sea.
      In the afternoon we will visit the village of Amalfi itself where you can marvel at the unique Cathedral of Saint Andrew.
      In the late afternoon we will board a boat which will take us to the village of Maori. Weather permitting, we will experience a sunset highlighting the gorgeous colors of the Amalfi Coast.
      We arrive in Sorrento in the evening for dinner. 


      DAY 3

      8:00 Breakfast
      This morning we will take the ferry from Sorrento to the Isle of Capri!
      First, we will take a boat ride around Capri to admire the highlights:
      The Faraglioni sea stacks, Punta Carena lighthouse, Villa Malaparte, Natural Arch
      Visit the Blue Grotto along the coastline (weather depending)
      Return to port after 2 hours
      Next, we will take the funicular up to the town of Capri, then to continue to Anacapri where we can enjoy lunch.
      Ride the seggiovia cable car to the top of the mountain for (hopefully) amazing views of the Mediterranean Sea. Stop for photos and a glass of Prosecco at the top of the island!
      In the evening we will return on the ferry to Sorrento for shopping, dinner, and our hotel.


      DAY 4

      Private Transfer to Rome

      DAY 5 

      8:00 Breakfast
      Discover the Bella Vita of Rome
      Our Rome City Guide will meet us to begin our walking tour: Spanish Steps, and the Trevi Fountain, visit the Pantheon, Piazza Navona, as well as witness the masterpieces by Bernini and many others
      12:00 Lunch on own
      Time to explore, shop, and eat!
      4:00 Tour the Colosseum and the Roman Forum
      Today we will dine at a traditional pasta restaurant. Watch your meal being made right before your eyes!


      DAY 6

      7:30 Tour of the Vatican Museums
      The Sistine Chapel
      9:00 Breakfast at the Vatican Courtyard
      Visit St Peters Basilica
      Lunch
      Free to enjoy the beauty of Rome, sightseeing and shopping.
      Dinner in Trastevere
      Return to hotel


      DAY 7

      8:00 Breakfast
      9:00 Depart by train to Florence
      Drop bags in hotel
      Lunch
      Visit the David
      Time to explore The Duomo, Ponte Vecchio, and shop for leather and truffles
      Dinner at a traditional Tuscan restaurant
      Return to Hotel


      DAY 8

      8:00 Breakfast
      Tuscany Day Trip. Art, history, countryside, food.
      Guided Tour of Siena to learn about the Medieval History and see the Piazza where the Palio di Sienna is held and the Duomo of Sienna
      Lunch
      Visit San Gimignano and taste the best gelato in a world championship award winning gelateria. Time for ceramic and truffle shopping!
      Visit the Chianti hills and stop at a family wine farm for a Tuscan wine tasting and light dinner
      Return to Florence


      DAY 9

      8:00 Breakfast
      9:00 Visit the Uffizi Museum
      12:30 Lunch
      Free time
      Visit Piazza Michelangelo to enjoy views of Florence
      Dinner at a traditional Florentine Steak Restaurant
      Return to hotel


      DAY 10

      8:00 Breakfast
      9:00 Depart North by train
      Arrive the town of Bolzano and
      see beautiful scenery on our way to the Dolomite mountains.
      Arrive Bolzano
      Check in hotel
      Time is available for those who wish to visit the Archaeological Museum and see Otzi the Iceman, the world’s oldest mummy.
      German Dinner


      DAY 11

      8:00 Breakfast
      9:00 Depart in our private vehicle to Lake Misurina at the base of the Tre Cime di Lavoredo, considered the most photographed location in the Dolomites!
      Stop for cheese tasting and the opportunity to purchase cheese to take home.
      For lunch experience traditional Northern Italian mountain fare in front of Lake Misurina
      Return to Bolzano


      DAY 12

      8:00 Breakfast
      9:00 Depart in our private vehicle with chauffer to Ortisei in the heart of The Dolomites
      Take a cable car to lunch on the top of Alpe di Suisse
      Visit the town of Caldaro for wine tasting at a cantina
      Drive back to Bolzano
      Dinner
      Hotel


      DAY 13

      8:00 Breakfast
      9:00 Depart to Venice
      Stop in Valdobbiadene, land of Prosecco to learn more about this special wine
      Lunch in a traditional restaurant overlooking the Prosecco valley
      Arrive Venice Airport to board a private speed boat taxi to our hotel
      Check in our Hotel
      Dinner – light dinner of traditional Venetian cicchetti at a friend’s restaurant
      Hotel


      DAY 14

      8:00 Breakfast
      9:00 See the best of Venice with a local Tour guide
      Hear the history of St Mark’s Square and Rialto Bridge
      Lunch
      Enjoy a gondola ride along the Venetian canals
      Free time to explore/shop
      Farewell Dinner

      Breakfast in Hotel (depending on flight time)
      Private transportation via water taxi to Venice Airport
      Lorna will accompany guests to the airport to assist with check-ins

      Without a doubt, this is one trip I will be talking about for a very long time and I strongly feel that all credit is due to Lorna. From the first hug of greeting at the airport to the final farewell, Lorna went above and beyond to ensure that our experience was memorable. The hotels were comfortable and conveniently located, the itinerary was well-paced and provided a variety of experiences, and the food….oh, the food was truly amazing. If you want to see the sights of Italy, you can have any number of tours from which to choose, but if you want to truly experience your destination, I highly recommend Lorna and her company.

      It is almost impossible to express how truly wonderful this trip was. Our tour director, Lorna, was so knowledgeable, both in terms of the major sights/experiences of each area we visited and with the local guides and lesser known places to see, eat at, and adventure. It was 15 days of non-stop pleasure: thrilling views, wonderful food, incredible art and sculpture, fascinating history, fun shopping - I could go on and on. The small group of 8 women made the trip so much more enjoyable, as we all got to know one another and look out for one another. We became a cohesive unit, and that just enhanced everything else. What a great idea to have such a small tour! This also allowed Lorna to make adjustments on the fly as circumstances evolved and weather changed, so we got to see it all. I can't recommend highly enough to go on one of these small group Italy tours. It was the experience of a lifetime.

      I have been the the UK twice. I have been to Europe numerous times with family and with other tours. This trip was the BEST experience! Lorna Holland is a bigger than life character. She is fun, bubbly, experienced, and an all around great tour guide. One of her talents is the way she can adapt to unexpected or problematic situations without missing a beat. One of the things I liked best about this tour is how we ended up in the out-of-the-way areas of the famous cities we were in. This is something big tours can't provide. We also ate where the locals ate. The food was divine. The accommodations were super. Being on a Ladies Only tour was also very special. Women act differently when men aren't around. There is more camaraderie, more fun, and more silliness. I highly recommend this tour, especially if you need to get away to relax and rejuvenate.
