About this trip

Get ready for a magical getaway on the picturesque Islands of Indonesia on this tropical adventure. Travel through Bali and Lombok blending gorgeous beaches, great food and rich cultures with Indonesia’s warm weather and sapphire seas. This trip is guaranteed to leave you enthralled as you walk, bike, snorkel, and swim through pristine environments and discover the allure of these two unique islands. Both Bali and Lombok are famous for their beauty and welcoming spirit, which you will experience at every turn of this trip.

Note-we will not be going to this trip but you will be in trusted hands of a leader and guide we know and trust

We specialize in small groups of 16 people maximum.

Why you'll love this trip

  • Snorkelling the crystal waters around Menjangan Island reef, off the east coast of Lombok and in Gili Islands.. Hopefully spot some tropical fish and perhaps if you are lucky some sea turtles.
  • Learn to cook like a local in an included cooking class.
  • Get an insight into the real Indonesia, with cultural activities and visiting local villages.
  • See the contrasts in religion and culture between Bali and Lombok.
  • Lombok and the Gili Islands are less frequented than their Balinese neighbour. Stay on the East Coast of Lombok in an area off the tourist trail.

Please note you must be about to walk up to three miles a day and carry your luggage up stairs if need be.

We specialize in tours for adults only. We take you away from your everyday world and the necessary distractions of family life.

Safe and Responsible Travel

We're committed to ensuring our trips remain safe for everyone — for our travelers, our leaders and crew, and the people we visit along the way. As responsible travelers, anyone who chooses to travel with us has a duty of care to themselves and the people around them. Travelers are required to comply with local regulations and laws.

What are the medical and vaccination requirements? Medical and general vaccination requirements differ between nations and as we are not medical practitioners, we unfortunately cannot advise on this issue. Please see your local GP or travel doctor for details and advice about current vaccination requirements.

We believe vaccinations play a key role in saving lives and helping to keep people safe. Around 70% of the world is vaccinated against COVID-19 but vaccination rates remain low in some of the destinations and communities we visit.   Therefore proof of up to date COVID Vaccine is required on all of our trips.

When assisting with an international travel booking, we will assume that all travelers on the booking have a valid passport. If this is not the case, you must let us know. It is important to ensure you have valid passports, visas and re-entry permits which meet the requirements of immigration and other government authorities. The planned activities were unique in some cases. Food was adequate and by the end quite boring. The itinerary could have mentioned how strenuous some portions were,i.e. altitude change for asthmatic, rocky uneven areas for seniors.

Thank you for choosing to travel on one of our trips. Yes, the food in Morocco is not very varied and after two weeks it's nice to have something besides tagine. I have updated the itinerary to mention not only that you need to be able to walk up to 3 miles but that sometimes it can be up a hill or on uneven areas. I have never had anyone have issues with the high Atlas Mountains as altitude sickness there is very rare. I am sorry you struggled. I am glad you found some of the activities unique.

Finally! I got my husband to travel with me on a small group Penny Pinching Globetrotter excursion and he loved it! We had amazing companions for our time in the Amazon Rain Forest of Ecuador's Cuyabena National Preserve. Our guides were excellent. The Dolphin Lodge was very hospitable and each meal was better than the last. If you like rustic camping, this is a major step up. If you like wildlife, this is your place to see it! Expect some rain, after all, it is the rain forest. Expect some critters and bugs, most of all, expect to have a good t time!
By Malinda W for Amazon Rainforest Adventure on Jan 02, 2025
This was a wonderful adventure. I saw all the animals, you think of, when you think rain forest. Our guide was very knowledge and passionate abut the rain forest and the Cuyabeno wild life preserve. I learned many things. The Dolphin Lodge while rustic was very comfortable. The food was very good, the staff was accommodating to our travelers with dietary restrictions. Our Hosts and fellow travelers were from many parts of the United States and I enjoyed getting to know them. Looking forward to traveling with them and Penny Pinchers again. I would't change a thing.

My family has been my rock.....my greatest source of strength when my world was falling apart. When I told them about my plans to get back to traveling and the possibility of traveling solo, they all had the same request....please don't go 100% alone...find you a group or tour company. After looking at more than I can remember and realizing that most just weren't the right fit for me, I found Melissa and Wade and Penny Pinching Globetrotter. Their small group sizes, culturally immersive and eco-touristic active itineraries were just what I was looking for. With the opportunity to journey through a new country with like minded travelers, I was sure that this group was for me. Even though I would be traveling alone both to and from the destination, once there, I would still be traveling to meet new people and experience new things...just not completely on my own. And I was right! I had a wonderful experience with a terrific group of people that began as strangers, but ended as friends ❤️

This is my 2nd trip with Melissa and Wade. Having now spent a month of days with them, two continents and destinations I can tell you if you’re looking for a real experience without a lot of the hassle their trips are ideal. I have travelled solo and done all the work so I have a good frame of reference for what goes into planning an idyllic experience. Melissa and Wade with the help of a local guide really take the worry and stress out of planning. When things don’t go as planned they will remove the obstacles and get you back on track whether that’s illness or just circumstance they’ve got you covered. If you yearn to learn about the culture and have a real experience meeting the local people and getting off the beaten path these trips are for you. I have some solo trips planned but hope to travel with them again.

Penny Pinching Globetrotters is my go to for my trips. Peru is my 4th trip with Penny Pinching Globetrotters. Melissa plans every trip down to the smallest detail. Makes traveling so easy. I book my plane ticket and pack my clothes and I’m ready to go. I have been to some amazing places and met wonderful people because of PPG. I have two more trips already planned with Melissa and Wade. Looking forward to seeing new places and meeting fellow travelers.
