About this trip

Peaksandposes is heading back to Shenandoah cause it's such an AMAZING park. We're going to explore Shenandoah National Park where 101 miles of the Appalachian Trail runs through. While just 75 miles south of DC, Shenandoah is the home of beautiful vistas, cragged mountains, lush waterfalls, wildflowers, and a whole lot more.

Our stay includes 2 fully equipped 2 bedroom cabins in Shenandoah River State Park (1600 acres).  Our cabins include hot water, a shared bathroom, heat/ac, a kitchen, an indoor fireplace, an outdoor fire pit, and more. Cabins allow a maximum of six and both have 2 bedrooms. One bedroom has a queen bed (for a single or couple) and the other bedroom has two sets of bunk beds (that sleep four total).

Upon arrival, we'll have a welcome lunch in Fairfax, VA before we head to our campground. We'll provide transportation to the campground and our days will be filled with early morning walks in the beautiful Shenandoah River Campground, guided hikes in Shenandoah National Park, yoga practices (optional), and more.

Nourish yourself with homemade plant-focused meals prepared daily by Peaksandposes chef/hiker, Majid. We cater to dietary restrictions.

Additional details about each day will follow but we will plan on hiking Old Rag, the highest and coolest hike in Shenandoah. We'll plan for a waterfall hike and other hikes with the best scenery possible.

You should be in good hiking shape to hike 5-7 miles on average for 3 days straight.

I am a four season peak bagger in New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine. I am exploring the Adirondacks of New York as well as Colorado 14'ers. My longest backpacking trip was 18 days on the John Muir Trail with a grand finale hiking Mt. Whitney! I am a Certified Health Coach and yoga instructor leading people to uplevel their health and reinvent themself. I am the most content outside hiking with my friends. I enjoy staying active through yoga, biking, x-country skiing and cooking seasonal plant based food.

I had a wonderful trip to Shenandoah! I loved our cozy cabins, our meals were delicious and plentiful. (Thank you Majid) I enjoyed our yoga classes, the hiking, and the activities that Nancy led us in to help us get to know each other and ourselves better. I enjoyed making new friends and had such an awesome roommate. So grateful to Nancy for leading this trip. Thank you!

Another amazing retreat with Peaks and Poses. So well planned and orchestrated. Challenging hikes, Majid’s crazy delicious plant based meals, morning yoga and 5 Tibetans, tons of photos and more new friends. So grateful! Nancy Wind - I’ll go anywhere with you! White water rafting up north and hiking in Colorado is next. I’ll be there!

This trip to Glacier National Park was on my bucket list for years, and not only did it not disappoint, it exceeded my expectations beyond anything I could have imagined. To be honest, you'd have to be quite the crotchety soul to not find joy in the jaw-dropping beauty of GNP, but Nancy and Majid made the trip so much more. Sure there were the incredible meals, the energizing yoga sessions, and the soothing meditations, but there was also a focus on nurturing connection. I came to this retreat not knowing anyone else attending, yet I left feeling like I had grown another family. I highly recommend any Peaks and Poses retreats!

OMG!!! Every day was awe inspiring. The park and its beauty holds pockets of wonder waiting to be explored. Each day held adventures that were different from each other and yet equally inspiring! Combine the hikes in the park with spiritual appreciation of all earths wonders and a touch of mind body wellness, one comes away feeling cleansed. Nancy’s expertise in connecting to the earth through breath, movement and community leaves you feeling inspired to continue long after the trip is over. Nancy thank you for all you do!

This was a wonderful experience and the most carefully planned retreat I have been on. Nancy scheduled thrilling hikes and beautiful yoga and meditation sessions. We had free time as well. Our chef created delicious meals which we all enjoyed. Our accommodations were comfortable with space for gatherings indoors and out. I can’t wait for the next retreat with Nancy.
