About this trip

Immerse yourself in centuries-old Christmas traditions in Colonial Williamsburg! For 81 years, Williamsburg served as the capital of the Virginia Colony from 1699 to 1780, and was the center of political events that lead to the American Revolution and the founding of our nation. To preserve its significance, oil tycoon and philanthropist John D. Rockefeller and his wife Abby restored and reconstructed Williamsburg into a living history heritage park, where actors in period costume depict colonial life. During the holiday season, the historic area is decked out with decorations you would find in 18th-century Virginia. Wreaths, for example, are adorned with everyday items from nature, such as pine cones, fresh and dried fruits, cotton, cinnamon sticks, and strands of coffee beans. The decorations are charming … and so creative!

Experience early American history, with guided tours of Jamestown and Williamsburg. Learn how Captain John Smith was instrumental in the survival and success of the 1607 Jamestown settlement, and why Williamsburg displaced Jamestown as the colony’s capital. Understand the history, Christmas traditions, and peoples of Colonial Williamsburg. Tour Virginia’s oldest plantation – Shirley Plantation -- which has been in the same family for twelve generations! Dine at authentic 18th-century taverns and delight in an evening performance. For a bit of fun, experience an over-the-top celebration of all things Christmas at Busch Garden’s Christmas Town. Highlights include strolling carolers, holiday-inspired dining, hot chocolate stands, unique holiday shopping, and a train ride that takes you around the park.

Daily full American breakfast, two lunches and two dinners are included. This festive getaway is limited to 10 - 14 travelers! The activity level is moderate, with travelers able to walk at least 3 miles per day.
