After breakfast and check out, we will begin the 5 hour road trip to Bloemfontein, the capital city of the Free State Province and the Judicial Capital of South Africa. Along the way, our hosts will keep you entertained with Glitter Bus Games and offer your loads of bubbles.

On arrival in Bloem, we will head straight (or is that gay-ly forward?) tothe famous Rose Garden, where we will enjoy a delicious picnic and a game of Lawn Croquet & Boule. It promises to be a delightfully gay afternoon in the centre of South Africa.

After some time to explore the beautiful city of flowers, dinner will be at the decadent Seisoen. The owners of Seisoen, married gay couple Maritsa & Maradine Whitehorn, were finalists in South Africa’s My Kitchen Rules Competition in 2018.

An early morning departure from Bloem as we begin the journey to Nieu-Bethesda.

The quaint village of Nieu-Bethesda is in the Great Karoo, famous for its Angora goats and Karoo lamb.

There are craft shops and galleries, potteries and sculpture gardens – most famously, the late Helen Martin’s extraordinary “Owl House”. A short ride will take us to our stop over for the night, Graaff-Reinet. This wonderful town is truly in the heart of the Great Karoo (or “Place of Thirst”). It is a boundless and mysterious place where broad plains roll away to distance koppies and mountains that seem to touch the indigo sky.

The town is an eccentric little hamlet filled with a rich history, superb art and culture, world-class restaurants and a night sky that dazzles with countless stars and galaxies.

Dinner will be at the amazing, gay-owned, The Yard.

After a last minute exploration of Graaff-Reinet, the Glitter Trail continues south to the Indian Ocean town of Plettenberg Bay.

Plett, as it is known as by South Africans, is one of the most LGBTQ+ friendly towns in the country, with loads of activities, seafood to die for and the best sunrise you will ever see.

After breakfast, we will explore the Plettenberg Bay region. It will be a day filled with

adventure (jet-skiing or a canyon adventure for those who are brave enough), wine-tasting (Plett is famous for its bubbles) and a wildlife experience at the Elephant Sanctuary and Monkeyland.

In the morning, we will load up the bus and begin the journey to Oudtshoorn with some fun stops along the way.

The first stop: an adventure for the brave – the Knysna Zipline! An adrenaline-filled experience that will have us gliding over the treetops of the Knysna forests, giving spectacular views of the area. The cables crisscross of the gorge with heights up to 200m. An epic adventure awaits!

Once we are done flying above the trees, we will continue on to Oudtshoorn with the second stop at Redberry Farm – a strawberry farm with the biggest maze in the Southern Hemisphere. We will treat you to a taste of Strawberry Lips – a pink drink with a kick.

And then on to Oudtshoorn, a lovely town in the Klein Karoo, nestled between the Outeniqua and Swartberg Mountains. You cannot visit Oudtshoorn without visiting a famous ostrich farm! We still stop at Highgate Ostrich Show Farm for an informative and delightful tour of the farm, finishing up with a delicious dinner at the famous Pepper Tree Restaurant.

Today we will be spending some time on the bus as we pass through cute little towns along the famous Route 62 (remember, there is bottomless bubbles available on the bus).

The first stop will be in Calitzdorp, then on to the gay-village of Barrydale (a large part of the population of Barrydale are from the LGBTQ+ community). Here we will taste local craft beer, explore the galleries and divine coffee shops and arts and craft stores.

Our last stop, not too far from Barrydale is Montagu. A little town famous for its’ fruits and dried fruit production. Wandering the streets of the town, buying trinkets and preserves is a wonderful experience.

Today, the second last day, we head to the wine capital of South Africa – Franschhoek & Stellenbosch. Truly one of the most beautiful regions in the country, surrounded by vineyards and mountains.

We will enjoy wine tastings along the way before embarking on a fun bicycle ride through the vineyards.

Dinner will be at a restaurant of your choice on the famous Dorp Street in Stellenbosch.

Our last day will be in Cape Town. After the 90 minute drive, we will head directly to Table Mountain and up the cable car – without doubt the best way to experience Cape Town for the first time.

There will be time to explore the city before we head out for a night on the town. Dinner will be at Beefcakes – South Africa’s famous Drag Queen Spot where you will be served by the sexiest men in Cape Town and entertained by the best drag queens. Afterwards, the night is yours to explore the gay-village, as we say good-bye to our Glitter Trail Team.
