Depart Accra for the Central Region. We pass by Airport Shell Filling Station and stop to buy water, snacks, etc. before continuing our journey. There will be a twenty (20) minutes rest stop in Mankessim. From there, we proceed.

Elmina Castle

The Elmina Castle, showing centuries of the slave trade, is beautiful historical importance. It is the earliest European construction in the Gulf of Guinea and is the oldest castle in sub-Saharan Africa. The castle is situated in the town of Elmina, located close to the Cape Coast. The court gives visitors a clear glimpse of the living conditions of the slaves that were held captive at the fort.

Kakum National Park

The Kakum National Park protects an undisturbed virgin rainforest in Ghana and is located approximately 20 miles north of Cape Coast. The park is a haven for nature lovers with various flora and wildlife, including seven primate species, over 500 species of butterflies, and around 250 bird species. The Diana monkey, giant bongo antelope, yellow-backed duiker, and African elephant are the most notable endangered species protected by the park. Visitors will enjoy the 2 miles-long stretch of sandy beach, which provides an excellent site for swimming, sunbathing, and bird watching.

Cape Coast Castle

Cape Coast Castle is a fortification in Ghana. The Castle was built for the trade-in timber and gold; later, it was used in the trans-Atlantic slave trade. Slaves were kept in dungeons before they were loaded onto ships to be sold to their slave masters. This gate of no return was the last stop before crossing the Atlantic Ocean.

Depart Accra to travel to Kamasi for the Esa Nti (Ashanti) Region. We will stop at Airport Shell for everyone to buy snacks and water before continuing the trip. Throughout the journey, stops will be made for us to use the washroom. The Esa Nti forms the biggest Akan ethnic group in Ghana. For centuries, they were the rulers in this Region because of their well-organized society.

Visit Adanwomase, where the famous Kente cloth is handmade on looms in a time-honored tradition passed down through generations. Observe the Kente weavers creating the traditional Kente Cloth. 

We will take part in a traditional Akan Naming Ceremony at Adanwomase.

Our next stop is at the village of Ntonso, where artisan’s hand-stamp patterns on a cotton cloth to make Adinkra textiles.

Later in the afternoon, visit the Prempeh II Jubilee Museum, named after the former EsaNtihene (ruler of the Esa Nti People). Exhibits include a replica of the famed Golden Stool, which is believed to have descended from the sky and is the spiritual symbol of the Esa Nti people.

Visit Manhyia Palace Museum, the official residence of Esa Nti 

Kings (Asantehene) until 1974, now a museum containing treasured items relating to the Esa Nti Kingdom.

Eastern Region is located in the south of Ghana and one of the ten administrative regions. It is bordered to Lake Volta's east to the north of Brong-Ahafo region and Esa Nti region. Akan, Eve, and English are the main languages spoken. Its capital city is Koforidua. It is also known as the land of beautiful Ghanaian women. It boasts of many tourist sites, indigenous cultures, festivals, and unique natural resources. After breakfast, we board the bus and head towards the Eastern Region.

Aburi Gardens: Aburi is located in the Akwapim-Togo range of Ghana. It is just three-quarters of an hour's drive from Accra. The cold mountainous weather of Aburi makes it a destination for people who love the cool side of life. Located in this relaxed, tranquil environment is the Aburi Botanical Gardens. The garden covers a total land area of about 160 acres and overlooks Accra coastal plains from 2.5 square miles above sea level. Among the many exciting attractions within the garden are the Bush House, The Rock garden, the Pergola or lover's lane, the Fiscus Tree, the retired helicopter, and the school of horticulture. 

Boti Water Falls: Boti waterfall is a twin waterfall located at Boti in Manya Krobo in the Eastern Region of Ghana. These twin falls are referred to as male and female, which comes from two emerging rivers. The larger one is mythically believed to be the male and the smaller one the female. According to the indigenes, when the two merge, a rainbow is formed. The falls are 30m high with a legendary short hike down 250 concrete steps that take you to the waterfall with a pool at the base that is good for swimming. There are two essential and notable things to note along the walk to the ancient cave, the umbrella rock, and the three-headed palm tree. On the way, there is a beautiful landscape, with lots of medicinal plants and trees but no wildlife.
