This morning, we learn all about AMARILLO & ROUTE 66. With the services of a LOCAL AMARILO STEP-ON GUIDE, our morning includes CADILLAC RANCH, the HARRINGTON MEDICAL COMPLEX (which encompasses the BOTANICAL GARDENS, DISCOVERY CENTER, the HELIUM MONUMENT, and VETERANS HOSPITAL). Mid-morning, we tour BILL’S BACKYARD CLASSICS, an amazing classic car and hot rod collection of over 90 cars that includes Bob Seger’s ’61 Pontiac Catalina Convertible. Take a trip back in time. The cars are located inside air-condition facilities and the staff will even show you where they restore these beautiful cars. Mid-day, we drive to HISTORIC ROUTE 66 where our group will have lunch on their own at one of the many locally owned cafés with time to stroll and get your kicks on Route 66! This strip is also known as the 6th AVENUE ANTIQUE ROW. After lunch, we depart for DOWNTOWN AMARILLO and surrounding area.  We will get to see the ongoing refurbishment of downtown and the beautiful architecture of the late 1800’s CATTLE BARON HOMES. We arrive back at our hotel in time to rest, relax, and freshen up before heading out for tonight’s entertainment. Rain or shine, we are off to experience TEXAS! This musical first opened up on July 1, 1966 and has been going strong ever since. With the backdrop of the PALO DURO CANYON, the story of Texas unfolds before your eyes.

WOW … that was a lot packed into two days. Now we head for home. Our day will include lunch in WICHITA FALLS with several leg stretches scattered throughout the day. Today is a perfect time to share addresses and phone numbers with all of your new friends.
